Two years ago, the people of Oakland entrusted me with the responsibility of serving as Mayor. I entered office committed to making our local government more transparent, more efficient, and more responsive to the community. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made. Today, residents and businesses can handle more town business online, and public information is easier to access than ever before.
That same focus on efficiency has allowed us to deliver real, targeted tax relief. My administration proposed, and the Town Council approved, a $10,000 exemption on the Business Personal Property Tax. This change benefits all businesses, while having the greatest impact on our smallest businesses by eliminating their personal property tax altogether. As we continue to improve efficiency and carefully analyze our annual budgets, I look forward to implementing additional relief in the future.
There is still more work to be done, and I ask for your vote on March 9 to serve as mayor for another two years.
